GOLDENDALE — During Klickitat County Commissioners morning workshop session Oct. 20, Public Works Director Jeff Hunter reported an additional $200,000 would be needed to complete the training hanger for Columbia Gorge Community College, due to increasing costs caused be a 6-month delay to redesign the building for a larger door.
He presented the choice as between KCPTA funding versus increasing a WSDOT loan, and favored the KCPTA alternative, “to keep a good relationship” with state transportation officials.
Planning staff and commissioners also agreed that solar development should be prohibited outside the energy overlay zone entirely and debated whether conditional use permits added value inside the zone when geographic restrictions were already stringent.
Commissioners came to a consensus on starting a vehicle leasing program with a small four-vehicle pilot project before committing to the full 13-vehicle proposal.
