Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Clifford (Cliff) C. Lucas was born on Feb. 22, 1954, in Hood River, Oregon. He grew up the fifth of 10 children born to Cliff Lucas Sr. and Helen Lucas. He passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, in Ellensburg, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathy; his parents; a sister, Mary Misiasz; and four brothers Jerry, infant Clifford, Leslie, and Michael.
He is survived by his son Josh, who lives in Washington State, and his daughter Christina Baker, who lives in Bingen, Washington, and several grandchildren. Also surviving Clifford are his four sisters: Helen Lucas, Junction City Oregon; Georgia Donnelly, Hood River; Karen Gilkerson, Bakersfield, California; and Susan Lucas, Portland, Oregon.
Clifford was a proud veteran, serving for a short time in the U.S. Army, and then for 15 years in the Army National Guard. After serving his country, Clifford held a variety of positions including Public Works for Hood River County, and long haul truck driver for Cardinal Glass, among others, and most recently as camp host at several overnight camp locations in Oregon and Washington, with Kathy at his side.
He dearly loved the outdoors, especially the deep woods, where hunting was a favorite pastime. He loved his family, travel, friends, and meeting anyone new. His wife once said he could talk paint off a wall, and that seemed to sum him up well. At the end of his life, he just wanted to come home. And now he has.
