April 23, 1937 — Pictured above is a group of young Hood River school students who are learning the arts and mysteries of packing Hood River Valley apples. The school is being conducted by the Apple Growers Association, and not only are students from all parts of the county taking a course of instruction, but a long list of older residents are awaiting a call to come in and take up the course. — H.R.N. After having been held open two weeks, polls were closed in the Apple Growers Union election Saturday noon and that evening the vote was canvassed. It was decisively in favor of selling the Union properties to the Association, the vote being 3,539 for and 294 against. The members of the Apple Growers Association voted by an equally decisive vote two weeks ago in favor of purchasing the Union property.
