GORGE — Thousands of demonstrators across the Columbia River Gorge joined over 8 million nationwide on March 28 for a third "No Kings" day of action, which set records as the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

Organized by a coalition of progressive institutions and local activist groups, including 50501 and Indivisible, the nonviolent movement opposes the actions and policies of President Donald Trump; key issues include federal overreach, immigration enforcement, the rising cost of living, and the war in Iran.

About 80 turned out for the event, which drew many honks from passing cars but also burnt diesel and expressive hand gestures, including some from those protesting Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson a few blocks away. Nate Wilson photo.
