Nationwide Protest Day — The Gorge will participate in the nationwide “No Kings” protest at four locations June 14: Hood River Salmon Fountain, Second and State streets; White Salmon/Bingen, Daubenspeck Park, 413 W. Humboldt St.; The Dalles, corner of the Post Office, 101 W. Second St.; and Stevenson, in front of the Skamania Co. Courthouse, Second and Russell Ave.
“Bring signs if you can, water, comfortable shoes, and please keep your dogs on a leash and be prepared to clean up after them,” said a press release.
Bike & Pedestrian Facilities project — The City of The Dalles has contracted Crestline Construction to complete construction of the Chenowith Elementary West 10th Street Bike and Pedestrian Facilities project. This project includes sidewalks (river side), storm drainage, signage and pavement markings, and roadway improvements. Project limits run on 10th Street between Chenowith Loop Road and Snipes Street. This work is planned to take place on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Construction may impact local access to homes or business throughout the summer, with completion scheduled for the end of August. Single lane closures with flaggers may take place; delays will be minimal as detour routes will guide traffic through or around the work zones as the project progresses.
