THE DALLES — The Dalles Lions Club and the Park Foundation of The Dalles are raising funds to replace the stairs at the Lions Shelter in Sorosis Park, making this gathering place safer and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Thanks to Lions Club members and community partners, $25,000 of the $36,000 project cost has already been raised, and $11,000 remains to finish the job.
As The Dalles Lions celebrate 100 years of service, the club is investing in the next 100 years at Sorosis Park, where the Lions Shelter has hosted generations of family gatherings, reunions, and community events. The project also builds on the Park Foundation's recent success at the park: this past summer, the Foundation raised $6,305 from eight donors to help the City of The Dalles Parks Department resurface the Sorosis Park tennis courts, a project costing about $30,000.
Donations can be made online at givebutter.com/lions-pavilion-steps-1gcewl or by mailing a check to the Park Foundation of The Dalles, PO Box 383, The Dalles, OR 97058. Every gift, large or small, helps keep the Lions Shelter welcoming for generations to come. For more information, visit parkfoundationofthedalles.org.
