THE DALLES — Multiple vehicles collided, causing serious injury to a driver and blocking I-84 near The Dalles, on July 6. According to Oregon State Police (OSP) logs, the driver of a Toyota Camry and a Nissan Altima struck head-on near Exit 83 in the westbound lanes. One of the vehicles became airborne, and struck a semi-trailer. OSP arrested a 22-year-old driver, a resident of The Dalles, on charges to include DUI, reckless driving, assault in the second degree, and reckless endangering. The other driver in the collision was Life Flighted to a Portland hospital. Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) closed the freeway, The Dalles police helped investigate, and Wasco County Sheriff’s officers helped fire and EMS crews remove the injured driver from their vehicle.
