HOOD RIVER — At the height of garden season —when the Pacific Northwest is lush with color, texture, and late summer light — “In a Garden” art exhibition at 301 Gallery in downtown Hood River, invites visitors into an immersive celebration of nature’s peaceful complexity and exuberant growth.
On display throughout August and September, 2026, the exhibit will showcase the work of regional and local artists inspired by the beauty and tranquility of gardens.
In September, the exhibition will provide ground for a special collaborative event between 301 Gallery, The Central Gorge Master Gardener Association and OSU Master Gardener Extension Program, during the Third Annual Hood River Front Yard Garden Tour.
On Saturday, September 12th, from 11-2 p.m., Master Gardeners and gallery artists will welcome tour-goers and the general public to stop by 301 Gallery to learn about pollinators and Master Gardener programs, and to visit with artists about artworks and artistic process.
With a special joy for community horticultural programs, Outreach Program Coordinator at OSU Extension Service, Megan Wickersham, invites the public, to “Join Central Gorge Master Gardeners in celebrating edible gardening, native plants, pollinators, community engagement and the fall harvest season at the third annual Hood River Front Yard Garden Tour!
“This event is made possible through partnership with community members and organizations, including a celebration of gardens through art at the 301 Gallery exhibition.”
Fresh flower arrangements by local florists will also be on display during the exhibition dates, bringing a living presence to the vibrant showcase of artworks that span a range of mediums, with an emphasis on 2D works and select 3D pieces that interpret gardens in their dynamic rhythm and light.
The exhibition is curated by Trout Lake artist, Joanna Kaufman, member of 301 Gallery. “I’m grateful for the serendipitous timing of this exhibition,” said Kaufman. “This gathering of artists, florists, horticulturists, and Master Gardeners at the height of the Pacific Northwest garden season is emblematic of the exhibition’s theme and reflects our shared delight in gardens and all that they bring to life.”
“In a Garden” opens with a public reception during First Friday, August 7, from 5-7 p.m. at 301 Gallery.
