Candidates night — The Dallesport/Murdock Community Council is hosting a candidates night on July 9 that will include those running for Klickitat County Sheriff and Klickitat County Commissioner Position 2. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Dallesport Community Center.
The Link service adjustment — Effective July 4, The Link Public Transit will implement several service adjustments due to projected funding reductions. Changes include:
• South Wasco County Shuttle service will be reduced from two days per week to one day per week, only on Tuesdays.
• Office hours will transition from seven-day operations to Monday through Friday only.
Scammers pose as Gorge Commission — The scammers are at it again.
The Columbia River Gorge Commission says someone pretending to represent the entity has been calling Klickitat landowners and applicants and demanding a large payment for a permit to rebuild after the Burdoin fire, reports Commissioner Rodger Nichols. “Here’s an important fact everyone in the county should know,” he added. “The Gorge Commission is not allowed to and Does. Not. Charge. Any. Permit. Fees. Ever.”

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce — Members have approved the recommended slate of nominees for the board of directors. Following approval of the membership vote, the newly seated board of directors elected its Executive Committee for the 2026–2027 year. The Chamber’s Executive Committee includes Chair Darcy Long, Empower Financial; Secretary Nikki Lucas, owner/operator, SHE FIRE, Inc.; and treasurer Shannon Wilkinson, assistant vice president & banch manager, WaFd Bank.
