HOOD RIVER — Klein & Associates, a land surveying and engineering company, has partnered with AKS, the regional professional consulting services firm, as of June 1.
Klein was established in 1983 by Anthony Klein, with James Klien and Leo Sandoval taking over the business in 2005. The two purchased Trantow Surveying of Bingen in 2010.
Led by Klein, Sandoval, and engineer Elizabeth Betts, the firm offers surveying, civil engineering, construction support, and materials testing. Recent projects include Hood River’s Urban Heights renewal and sewer replacement projects, and Williams pipeline gas line work across Oregon and Washington.
“Everyone at Klein & Associates is excited to work with the AKS group,” Klein said. “Having every discipline in-house means projects can move faster and with fewer complications.”
The majority of Klein’s team grew up in the Hood River Valley, giving the firm “deep historical and regional knowledge,” said an AKS press release.
“Klein is a well-rounded consulting firm with genuine technical strength and deep roots in the Columbia River Gorge and throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said AKS CEO Blair Carlson. “Partnering with their team strengthens AKS’ presence in a growing market, adds materials testing to our local service mix, and reinforces our work in the power, land development, and public infrastructure markets. We are already collaborating across offices on multiple projects.”
The Hood River location will collaborate with the existing AKS The Dalles office.
AKS is one of the region’s largest professional consulting firms, offering surveying, engineering, construction management, environmental and GIS services, landscape architecture, land use planning, materials testing, natural resources, and plumbing design.
