Holly Kristen Lester
A 27-year-old Seattle woman who had been missing for a month was found dead in the Columbia River in Hood River Monday, April 24.
Holly Lester was reported missing from the Port of Hood River area on March 18.
Lester had been traveling with her boyfriend and another male at the time. She spent the last several months hitch-hiking, police reports stated.
Hood River Police Sgt. Don Cheli told the News a male bystander walking on the Hood River Waterfront Trail Monday evening saw a body in the water close to the shore, near the Event Site. Hood River Police officers boarded a Hood River County’s Sheriff’s Office boat and recovered the body, which was identified as Lester.
A Tuesday news release from the police department stated the cause and manner of Lester’s death were pending toxicology and autopsy reports. The investigation is continuing.
Law enforcement officials declined to confirm or deny specifics about the case as of press time.
Cheli said in an email Thursday the autopsy had been completed, but the department can’t disclose the results and details of the investigation at this time.
