Badger Lake Fire inactive, trails still closed

Badger Lake and its spider web of trails are still closed due to an 80-acre human caused fire, which is now inactive, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The Badger Lake area in the southeast portion of the Mt. Hood National Forest remains closed due to a wildfire that started Oct. 3 and grew to approximately 80 acres last week due to dry and windy conditions, but is no longer actively burning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Improved weather conditions slowed the fire Thursday, and it is no longer actively burning, although one Forest Service engine remains on scene so officials can ensure that smoldering, burned material no longer threatens to re-ignite.
