A sergeant with the Portland Police Bureau is being charged with second-degree assault of a 17-year-old after an altercation at Elk Meadows RV Park in Trout Lake on July 27.
According to a press release by the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office, Portland Police Bureau Sgt. Jason Pearce, 43, has been charged in allegedly becoming involved in a physical altercation with a 17-year-old male from Battle Ground around 11:30 pm Sunday.
It has been determined that alcohol was a factor in the altercation, which stemmed from the 17-year-old male making "inappropriate comments" toward Pearce's juvenile daughter, according to the release. When Pearce told the 17-year-old male to return to his campsite the juvenile became confrontational, resulting in the following physical altercation that left the juvenile with injuries to his face and neck.
Pearce maintains that he was acting in self-defense.
