Team Adrenaline returns from Spartan Race

THIS! IS! SPARTAAA! Actually, this is Washougal, the site of the Pac West Spartan Sprint Race, where 11 Gorge residents competed in the event earlier this month. Pictured here, starting in the back row from left to right are: Logan Davis, Todd Walter, Trey Schilling, Brody Schilling, Jeff Irwin, and Craig Holloway. Middle row: Stacy Claus, Renae McClung. Nearly a dozen people representing the Gorge not only competed in, but survived the Pac West Spartan Sprint Race in Washoughal earlier this month, enduring a “race” that was really more like a sadistic obstacle course.

The race was held at Washougal Motorcross Park and in addition to the four-mile run itself, also featured a litany of obstacles and challenges to slow down participants, similar to other popular obstacle course race series such as the Tough Mudder. The 11 competitors from the Gorge, running under the name “Team Adrenaline,” had to climb over obstacles, crawl under barbed wire, throw spears at targets and other challenges or face a physical penalty such as performing burpees: dropping from a standing position into a squatting position with your hands on the ground, kicking your feet back while keeping your arms extended, returning your feet to the squat position, and then jumping up from that position.
