Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Carol Lee Walker passed away Feb. 11, 2026. She was born June 18, 1957, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” Nix and Eugenia Ann Nix. She had two older siblings, Bill and Kathy Nix, and a younger sister, Laurie, two years later.
Carol attended and graduated with the class of 1975 from Stevenson High School. Following completion of high school, she met and married Jerry T. Walker in Stevenson and they had two children, Jerry Ted Walker in 1986 and Emily Kailyn Walker in 1988. She loved her two children and made major bequeaths to both of them.
Carol was very much respected and a hard worker. She started working for Ann Jerman at her grocery store and continued working for John and Andra Mobley when they bought the business. She worked as a cashier, and loved the work and the people coming past her every day. This is the community she grew up in and relished.
Carol was afflicted with throat cancer in 2016 but she battled it with grace and courage, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. She won her fight with cancer and during the 10 years, it didn’t come back. The people in the Stevenson community and her employer helped in her fight making charitable contributions for the huge medical costs. She so admired the generosity of all the people that helped her in defeating this illness.
Carol had the highest respect for John and Andra Mobley and dedicated herself to loyally work at A & J Market. She loved Stevenson and all the customers she served for more than 25 years.
Carol asked not to have a public funeral service. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and any remembrance to her may be a donation to Ft. Vancouver Library.
