District 5 Little League, including Hood River, Odell, Parkdale, White Salmon and Trout Lake townships, hosts opening day ceremonies and games for all boys and girls teams on Saturday. A ceremony at the Hood River Little League’s home field on Nix Drive will bring together all boys and girls teams from the district. After the ceremony teams will head to other fields around the district to play games. As part of the festivities, parents and fans are invited to partake in a fundraiser barbecue put on by West Side Fire Department, which will start at 10:30 a.m. after the opening ceremony.
Sign-ups open for 11-13, 14-16 co-ed soccer
Hood River and Odell boy and girl soccer players can register for 11-13-year-old and 14-16-year-old leagues through Hood River County Community Education. These two groups will replace all Hood River and Odell soccer registrations for the age range. Players should register as soon as possible through www.hrcommunityed.org. Practice is scheduled to being May 1. Session numbers are as follows:

Two teams remain undefeated in Gorge Hoops League

Hawks still winless in league games
Weston-McEwen swept the Horizon Christian baseball team in a league doubleheader Saturday in Athena. The Tiger-Scots won the first game, 2-1, scoring the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning. They used a 10-hit attack to win the second game, 11-4.
Micah Engel and Ian Rasmussen each had a hit and scored a run for Horizon in game two. In the opener, Engel pitched a three-hitter through five innings. Kirby Carter and Jake Wells had the only two Horizon hits, as Weston-McEwen pitcher Justin Burke struck out seven for the complete-game win.
Horizon resumes league games Saturday with a doubleheader at Stanfield.
ICMGA holds Spring Handicap tourney
Forty-eight men competed in the annual Indian Creek Men’s Golf Association Spring Handicap tournament over the weekend amid challenging and variable spring conditions. Winners are as follows:
