The South Wasco County High Redsides girls basketball team improved its record to 3-0 in the Big Sky League West Division and 11-2 overall by winning three straight league games last week.
In the first game without their leading scorer, Styles DeLeon, who suffered a season-ending leg injury Dec. 30, The Dalles High Riverhawks boys basketball team won a non-league contest, 60-55, over visiting Pendleton on Jan. 4.
The Class 4A Riverhawks faced a much stronger opponent in a Jan. 7 home match-up against the Class 6A Willamette High Wolverines (6-5), who won 59-36.

Competing in the Newport Coastal Classic boys basketball Tournament Dec. 28-30 at Newport High School, The Dalles High Riverhawks won their first game of the season, 58-52, over the Santiam High Wolverines.
The No. 22-ranked Class 1A Horizon Christian High Hawks (1-0 Big Sky League, 6-2 overall) boys basketball team improved to 6-2 with a 60-16 non-league win over the Dayville/Monument High Tigers (1-8) Dec. 20 at Horizon Christian High School in Hood River.
The No. 6-ranked South Wasco County High Redside girls faced their toughest opponent this season on Dec. 19, losing to the top-ranked North Douglas High Warriors (5-2), 62-9 in Drain.
