Columbia runners take care of business at home

WHITE SALMON — The Columbia High School cross country squad performed well at a home meet on Sept. 24, featuring the Bruins, Glenwood, Kalama, King’s Way Christian, La Salle, and Stevenson.

The Bruins totaled 11 top ten finishes over the three-mile course, which looped around the high school and middle school campus.

Junior Lilah Zimmerman won the girls race in 19 minutes, 41 seconds. Sophomore Kathryn O’Connor was second in 21:05.50; senior Maisy Kollman was fourth in 22:03.90; junior Maya Tama was seventh at 23:15.60; and freshman Lila Urban was ninth in 24:16.70.

Junior Luther Thomas led the way for Columbia on the boys’ side. Thomas took first place with a time of 17:29.20. Sophomore Colby Clark followed in second, finishing in 18:04.20. Junior Everett Coyner placed fourth at 18:27.70, and Junior Carter Smith took fifth with a time of 18:47.10. Sophomore Jack Brooks secured sixth place, running 18:57.10, and senior Ethan Hayes added a top ten finish, placing tenth in 19:31.20.
