Horizon Christian’s track and field meet at Portland’s Catlin Gabel had a bit of everything Saturday, including a 45-minute lightning delay, but the Hawks came away with a second-place boys finish against eight other — mostly larger — schools.

Horizon Christian School’s soccer fortunes were bolstered Friday with the Hawks’ tie with unbeaten Damascus Christian in Hood River.

The tie moved the Hawks into contention to finish second in the nine-team, 3A/2A/1A Special District 7 (eight-player division) regular season behind Damascus.

Senior Kai Robertson and junior Gus Decker, each a multi-sport athlete and honor roll student, were awarded the 2021 Rick Aldrich award at Horizon Christian School. They received the awards between Horizon’s girls and boys basketball games Friday.

Horizon Christian’s boys soccer season ended Saturday evening at Wilsonville High School, where Grand View Christian came from behind late and ended up winning the District 7 third-place match on penalty kicks.
