Twenty scholarships were awarded to students in 2022’s Art Camp, which is once again hosted in The Dalles Art center after its 2020 cancellation and 2021 year in the The Dalles Civic Auditorium, according to Executive Director J. Scott Stephenson.
Mitch Thompson and Bilinqual Baquetbol will be hosting a one-day clinic at Mid Valley Elementary School on July 22. Bilingual Basquetbol seeks to serve rural immigrant communities throughout the Pacific Northwest through basketball. The camp will be in Spanish and English. The camp is free to join, but interested participants must register online.
The Unbeatable Blue Pandas and Team Tiger went head-to-head in a bout for the ages, with a two point win for Team Tiger at the Hood River Armory on Friday, June 15.
The Columbia Bruins High School wrestling program put on a youth camp for wrestlers in the Gorge to come and learn from seasoned wrestlers, including Junior College National Champion and All-American, Jason Shaner. Held during the weekdays from June 27 - July 8, youth wrestlers from Hood River, The Dalles, Goldendale and White Salmon participated in a camp that CHS head coach Mike Muelhbauer said is “necessary” because many kids did not get opportunities to wrestle due to COVID-19.
When Davis Koester moved to White Salmon five years ago he was surprised to find very few opportunities for youth baseball in the Gorge, let alone White Salmon. So he founded Peak Baseball. Koester and Peak want to give families “affordable summer baseball camps which develop both knowledge and skills.”
