Last night, my wife came to me and reported that our dryer was not drying properly and was making a funny sound. Since it was 10 years old, I quickly suspected that a new dryer was in the offing, but decided to check it out anyway.
Yep, a new sound, but upon opening the dryer door huge amounts of heat poured out.
The mystery deepened, so I stepped outside to check the dryer vent system for a buildup of dryer material. I reached in and sure enough it was thoroughly blocked, but what were twigs, grass and feathers doing in the vent?
I reached in and began pulling more and more of the strange stuff and to my surprise and luck for them, I also found four small, white with blue dot eggs, apparently still intact.
The wife was quickly brought into the problem and we found that we still had an unused birdhouse. I carefully transferred the nesting material and the four eggs into the new apartment, hoping that the pending parents would accept our gift.
I knew they were concerned, because I had a couple of worried parents diving at me, a giant against two feathered critters, or so they thought.
The birdhouse was placed near the vent, hoping the new housing met their approval and we would soon see four newly arrived “birdlings” safe and intact.
Sometimes, in the frantic throes of living at this time, we forget there are all kinds of poignant things going on all around us, if we would just take a quiet moment and enjoy those goings on. Our plan is to take pictures for the family album if the parents accept our gift and we soon have four new arrivals to enjoy.
