Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Robert Raymond Yanez, known to many as Bob and lovingly called Papa by his family, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on Oct. 3, 1939, in Ventura, California, and later made his home in The Dalles, Oregon.
Bob shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia. Together they built a life filled with love, music, laughter, and family. In their later years, they performed together in a band, and Patricia wrote him a song titled “I Just Can’t Be Me Without You,” a testament to the love they shared.
For more than 20 years, Bob worked for the Hood River and The Dalles school districts, where he was loved by students who always looked forward to seeing him.
Bob was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and joyful spirit. He loved playing the guitar, square dancing with Patricia, doodling, classic cars, old Westerns, and making what many considered the best margarita around. Above all, he loved his family and cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lupe and Lawrence Yanez, and his children, David and Patty.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his children, Chrissy, Kathy, Shirley, Laurie, Tammy, and Robert; his sisters, Florence and Tarzie; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Whether you knew him as Bob or Papa, he will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, music, and the love he shared so freely.
