Nurses at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital approved a new, two-year contract with the hospital that improves patient care and helps attract and retain highly-qualified nurses.
The nurses, represented by the Oregon Nurses Association, unanimously voted to ratify the contract agreement on Friday, Jan. 29, according to a press release from the association. The new contract takes effect immediately.
The agreement:
“This agreement means families in Hood River can continue receiving the high-quality care they deserve right here at home,” said Elese Sewell, a local emergency room nurse and chair of the nurse bargaining team, in the press release. “It meets our patients’ needs and will help us attract new nurses to continue to care for our community in the future.”
The agreement includes a 2.5 percent salary increase per year to reward nurses’ years of service and offset rising costs of living.
The previous contract between nurses and Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital expired on Dec. 31, 2015.
