Hood River Police, April 14 - 20
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: Criminal mischief (two), DUII (four), driving while suspended (one), drug law violation (two), harassment (one), stalking order violation (one), theft (two), unlawful possession of a firearm (one), warrant (three).
Notable incidents
Four DUII arrests. In one incident, a resident of Vale, Oregon was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. They acknowledge recent use of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Three non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, a two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Cascade Ave. and Ninth Street April 14. In another, a two vehicle crash took place at Cascade Ave. and Twentieth Street April 17. In the third, a three-vehicle crash took place in the Walmart parking lot April 19.
On injury vehicle crash. A vehicle abruptly stopped to park on Twelfth Street with two vehicles behind it. The first vehicle was able to stop, but the second vehicle did not have time to react and struck the first vehicle. Medics responded, as the passenger in the first vehicle had a complaint of neck pain. Three warrant arrests. In one incident on April 16, a resident of Portland, Oregon was arrested on two outstanding Multnomah County arrest warrants and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). In the same incident, a resident of Goldendale, Washington was arrested on the charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine); an addition charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) will be sought against the pair.
Three theft reports. Fishing rods from the bed of a vehicle, 10-foot dump trailer, and a bicycle.
Officers responded to an unattended death.
A hit-and-run report was taken on April 16.
A report of “fraud - other” was taken for an ongoing issue of non-payment.
The Dalles Police, April 19 - 24
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: charge not logged (one), criminal mischief (one), disorderly conduct (one), parole/probation violation detainer (one), theft (one), trespass (two), warrant (four).
Notable incidents
Four warrant arrests. In one incident, a person was arrested for a statewide felony warrant after a vehicle stop near Seventh Street.
One theft arrest. After allegedly stealing a garbage can and transferring items to it, a person was arrested and lodged at NORCOR for three different charges.
Two trespass arrests. In one incident, a noncompliant person was arrested after a trespassing incident on April 22, between Ninth and Tenth streets. A taser was deployed, and Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue also responded.
18 mental health calls logged.
20 animal calls logged. Dogs at large, dog welfare checks, barking dogs, alleged animal abandonment, two dogs running deer and killing one small deer, dog bite. In one incident, nine free puppies were surrendered and lodged at an animal shelter.
One vehicle crash. Locations include a parking lot on West Sixth.
7 theft reports. Shoplifting (two incident), items from an alleged burglary, cellphone, box of cigarettes valued at $102. In one incident, three people passed sixteen counterfeit $100 bills to a Sixth Street business on March 29. In another, the suspect in a previous theft from a Sixth Street business returned and shoplifted another three items April 23. Officers obtained footage of the incident and cited the person.
2 hit-and-run reports. In one incident, an unknown vehicle hit a green Mustang near Sixth Street. In another, a white Toyota Camry left the scene of a crash involving an older Subaru Outback on Ninth Street April 24.
Officers took a case number for drone deployment after a suspicious object was reported between the Union underpass and Boat Basin; the object was a tarp, wrapped in another tarp.
1 burglary report. A person was cited for burglary April 23 after returning some of the property taken from a Sixth Street storage unit. Other suspects were involved and the incident is still under investigation.
After the back of a house was reported on fire on Snipes Street April 20, Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded and the fire was knocked down by about 20 minutes after the first call. No one was home.
A “massive pine tree” was reported blocking a roadway near Carroll Road. The Road Department was contacted to remove it.
Officers assisted with an overdose on Seventh Street. The person was revived with narcan and transported.
Wasco County Sheriff, April 22 - 25

One animal call.
A burglary was logged on Deschutes Avenue April 24.
A prowler was reported on Skyline Road April 24, and a report taken.
Oregon State Police, April 19 - 25
The following are crimes which resulted in arrests: DUII (one), reckless driving (one), unauthorized use of vehicle (one), warrant (one).
Notable incidents
Three non-injury vehicle crashes. In one incident, a driver lost control while entering I-84 from W. Sixth Street April 19, crossed all the lanes of I-84 and struck the median near eastbound milepost 83. Along with OSP, Wasco County deputies responded and arrested the operator for reckless driving. The vehicle, which came to rest blocking the freeway, was towed. In another incident, a Honda’s driver fell asleep near I-84 eastbound milepost 76, and crashed into the median, but was able to pull their commercial vehicle to the median and arrange a tow. In another incident, a two-vehicle crash between a white Nissan Sentra and a red Nissan Rouge took place where traffic was flagged through a construction zone near US 197 and Bret Clodfelter Way April 22; both vehicles were driveable.
Troopers assisted with a vehicle fire on I-84, near Cascade Locks, April 22. The vehicle was eight feet from the fog line. The driver arranged the vehicle’s removal; their belongings were retrieved and they received a courtesy ride from ODOT.
An eastbound pickup truck was stopped for speeding on I-84, near milepost 139 on April 24. The driver was felony suspended for three prior DUII convictions. The driver’s wife and infant were traveling separately in another vehicle and arrived on scene. The four arranged their own tow for the vehicle, so they could continue an Idaho trip in the pickup, with another driver. A trooper assisted the couple with their child seats, and issued a citation.
After multiple 911 calls were received of an eastbound gray Nissan Versa driving recklessly on I-84, near milepost 42, troopers and Hood River County deputies located the suspect vehicle, which came back stolen, and observed numerous signs of impairment in the driver. The driver, arrested on three charges, refused to give a breath test and a warrant was granted for a legal blood draw. The vehicle was towed.
