1926 — 100 years ago

The Anderson Construction Co. of Portland was the successful bidder for construction work on the new Hood River High School, to be built on the nine acre tract purchased from the Mortimer estate, the bid being $130,634. Sturgis & Sturgis bid $6097 for the plumbing and were successful. The heating contract went to Rushlight Hastorf & Lord Inc., on a bid of $16,443. All bids accepted were the lowest of many submitted.
