Notable incidents
Eight theft reports. Check fraud, items from vehicle on 11th Street, truck from Lillian Way which was later recovered, vehicle from Heritage Way, wire, knife. In one incident, a person reported that while at the downtown 76 gas station, a family approached to sell them gold. The seller claimed they’d been robbed and needed the money to reach California. Both parties went to Rivermark Community Credit Union, where the reporting party paid the seller $800 for the gold — which was fake.
After someone reported the theft of $100 in cigarettes from a Lone Pine location at about 1:33 p.m. on March 15, police found and arrested the suspect on charges of second-degree theft and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
23 animal calls. Missing cat; dogs escaping, attacking each other, getting rained on, lost, allegedly abused, getting impounded, biting folks...
An unattended death.
Two crash reports. On March 15, a single vehicle crashed “on the sidewalk” on Fourth Street at about 2:40 p.m., dislodging a fire hydrant. The driver, who was having a medical issue, was transported by medics. On March 17, a vehicle on 10th Street appeared dragging a power pole and communication line, apparently having gotten them somewhere else in town. The driver got a court date.
An intoxicated driver crashed on Bargeway Road March 19 and got a court date for DUII, at about 1:15 p.m.
An officer assisted with a brush fire near a sidewalk on Court Street March 15.
Two mental health calls.
A vehicle was entered illegally and tools taken on 10th Street March 17.
A hit-and-run report. Sign on Cherry Heights found damaged March 18.
Alleged gunshots heard near Mill Creek, Odd Fellows Cemetery area March 19. Others reported on March 20 from 13th Street.
Officers helped Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue extinguish a fire at a houseless person’s camp near West 2nd Street on March 20. Flames from what seemed to be a blaze started by a warming fire rose 15 feet high and train traffic had to be stopped, according to logs. No one was at the campsite.
One fire truck got stuck in mud and required a tow.
Wasco County Sheriff ( WCSO), March 14 - 20
Notable incidents
Deputies logged 39 vehicle stops.
10 dogs, another animal.
Five theft logs. Snipes Street; S. County Road; Browns Creek Road; Knob Hill Road; NE Fifth Street.
Three vehicle crashes: One on Tygh Valley Road March 15. Another on W. Fourth St., also on March 15. And a crash on Highway 97 March 19.
An alleged gunshot logged March 15 near Wamic Market Road.
Three warrants. Locations were Celilo Village, North Airstrip, I-84.
A burglary was logged from Ross Road at about 12:33 p.m. March 16.
An assault.

These charges resulted in arrests: driving while suspended or revoked (two).
Notable incidents
After a black Land Rover struck and injured a Hood River police officer on March 16, Hood River Police and Hood River Sheriff’s Office pursued it westbound from Hood River on I-84, at about 8:48 p.m. An assisting OSP trooper spiked the Land Rover’s tires near milepost 28, and as a result the driver was stopped and taken into custody without incident. Hood River Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
An angler at Bikini Pond was found in possession of two brood trout on March 17. The angler was warned for catching more than one brood trout per day, and the fish seized for Hood River FISH Food Bank.
On March 19, an owner went to retrieve Toyota Corolla and trailer which had been secured for two days near Highway 30 and SE Frontage Road, Cascade Locks, following an emergency transport. They found the car’s window broken and items gone.
