4 hit-and-run reports.
3 rescues. Hood River Sheriff and Hood River Crag Rats personnel rescued an injured climber from Mount Hood on March 1, at about 7:31 a.m. And on March 5, both organizations responded to a report of a dog gone over a cliff. On April 21, deputies responded to a hiker with medical issues at Herman Creek Campground.

3 non-injury vehicle crashes. Locations include Dee Highway.
A report was taken for use of force on a county resident March 7.
12 theft reports. In one incident, a vehicle was stolen from Hood River. Another reported a possibly stolen firearm.
3 fraud reports.
Deputies responded to a report of a person jumping in and out of traffic on I-84 on March 8.
The driver of an eluding vehicle was arrested in Cascade Locks March 9.
A fight at Hood River Valley High School led to an arrest on March 11.
Three unattended deaths, and a death investigation.
Two vandalism reports.
A stolen vehicle was recovered near Eagle Creek Overlook on March 15. Other stolen items were recovered March 18 and 19. And a stolen gun was recovered March 27.
A vehicle fled a traffic stop on March 16, injuring an officer. The vehicle was pursued into Multnomah County, where the driver was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault.
A burglary was reported at County Sand Shed Storage March 18. Another burglary on Lost Lake Road, which happened December 2024, was reported that day.
Two dogs reportedly chased, and successfully killed, sheep on March 20.
An employee admitted to stealing an undetermined amount of money from their employer over several years on March 20, and a report of embezzlement was taken.
A found gun was turned in.
Hood River Police, April 6 - 12
These charges resulted in arrests: Assault (one), DUII (one), driving while suspended (one), drug violation (three), harassment (one), false information (one), theft (one), warrant (two).
Notable incidents
Five warrant arrests. In one, an adult person was lodged on four warrants and possession of fentanyl.
Three assault reports. In one incident, a male arrested in a domestic incident admitted to having cocaine on their person.
Three theft reports: Identity theft, cold shoplifting case, and a bike worth $2,000 stolen from inside an open garage on April 6 and later dropped off.
Two crashes both caused injuries. In one, two vehicles crashed at 13th and May streets April 9, and an occupant was transported to the emergency room. The other two-vehicle crash took place on an I-84 off-ramp on April 7.
Officers responded to an altercation at Ferment Brewing on April 6, only to learn en route that one involved — and intoxicated — person had driven off. The Gresham resident was located and arrested for DUII.
The Dalles Police, April 10 - 17
These charges resulted in arrests: Arson (one), Assault (one), burglary (one), charge not logged (one), disorderly (one), interfering with 911 report (one), menacing (one), no contact order violation (one), theft (two), trespass (one), warrant (seven).
Notable incidents
28 animal calls. Dogs missing, escaped, shut in, dead on railroad tracks, fighting, getting punched; roaming cats, dead cat, alleged “wolf” or huskey sighting. In one incident a resident complained of raccoons in his kitchen on Snipes; officers found a pawprint — but no raccoon.
1 burglary. A person was arrested April 10 for burglary and theft after allegedly entering a house to take a cellphone.
11 theft reports. Windows were shattered and items taken from vehicles on 16th Place, 14th Street, 7th Street and 11th Street. Shoplifting (three), stolen vehicle, bicycle (two), cold case.

A person was arrested on four charges — assault, theft, interfering with making a 911 report, and violating a no-contact order — after a physical altercation with another.
3 fraud reports: SNAP and credit cards stolen, false check.
A stolen vehicle was recovered after the owner found it. Another local stolen vehicle was recovered by Hood River police.
A small grass fire near 10th Street was put out on April 11, and another on 8th Street the same day. The second fire started at Bonneville Power’s substation, but affected only the grass and fence. The same suspect was thought to have started both fires. Later that week, a The Dalles person was charged with second-degree arson.
A vehicle hit two parked cars on E. 10th and Jefferson on April 12, and needed a tow.
An overdose was recorded on 2nd Street April 13.

Wasco County Sheriff, April 10 - 16
Notable incidents
3 vehicle crashes. April 10 on Rail Hollow Road, and on South Valley Road. April 13 on Ward Road.

Oregon State Police, April 11 - 17
These charges resulted in arrests: driving while suspended (three), DUII (two), reckless driving (one).
Notable incidents
Someone was injured in a hit-and-run crash on I-84 April 13. A Dodge Caravan rear-ended a Dodge Ram twice, injuring the driver, and continued westbound without stopping. The rear-ended vehicle followed it until a trooper stopped it.
Two injury crashes. One person got minor injuries on I-84 in Sherman County April 14, after leaving their lane. The driver said they fell asleep. Separately, a driver was moving his stuff down I-84 to a new home, when a plastic tote of Christmas decorations fell into the lane. A Volkswagon swerved to avoid it. A Toyota, moving to avoid the Volkswagon, rear-ended it before “pin-balling” back and forth into the median. All three occupants complained of pain.
A hunter self-reported killing a turkey one day before the season opened on April 14. Another hunter was caught carrying two turkeys and cited for killing more than one a day. OSP donated both birds to food banks.
A seriously injured brown dog was found on I-84 April 16, and dispatched after no animal hospital was able to treat it.
A car fled down I-84 at speeds of over 100 mph after a trooper tried to stop it for speeding on April 16. The car sped recklessly into Cascade Locks, witnessed by ODOT workers and the fire chief, and the trooper later found it empty — except for some drugs and drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were felony suspended. Only the passenger was located.
An overdose was reported at Memaloose Rest Area. Troopers administered narcan before medics arrived and transported the person to an area hospital.
