A GoFundMe representative informed Columbia Gorge News that Kevin Anderson was stabbed in Hood River on Jan. 28, a day prior to both incidents, when he was, as stated below, attacked last Thursday evening in Cascade Locks. THE GORGE — Late on Jan. 29, officers responded to a stabbing reported on the 200 block of East Franklin Street just outside of downtown Bingen, according to a press release from the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department (BWSPD).
The suspect fled on foot while the victim ran to a nearby residence, where they received treatment from medical personnel for multiple wounds and were ultimately transported to a Portland-area hospital for further care. Multiple agencies coordinated the initial search, which saw BWSPD’s new UAS drone employed, but the suspect, later identified as Isaac O. Sosa of Portland, had already left the area in a vehicle.
Early on Jan. 30, the Port of Portland Police arrested Sosa for an unrelated crime, and he was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. An arrest warrant was later issued for attempted murder in the second degree.
“The Bingen-White Salmon Police Department takes all domestic violence crimes seriously and will make every effort to arrest offenders and assist in the successful prosecution of these cases,” reads the press release.
BWSPD thanked the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office, Port of Portland Police, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, and the staff of the Multnomah County Detention Center for their assistance, but noted the investigation is still active.
Downriver in Cascade Locks, two individuals were also stabbed last Thursday, according to an Oregon State Police (OSP) incident log stamped at 11:02 p.m.
One victim, identified as Kevin Anderson, 35, of Carson, was subsequently transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with eight wounds, one of which punctured his lung. The other victim was taken to a local hospital.
The incident log listed two persons of interest: Anderson and Joseph James Sampson, 34. Officials believe these two people may have information about the assault, but they are not suspects.
The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, which is coordinating with OSP’s Portland Major Crimes Detectives, was unable to provide further details, as their efforts remain ongoing.
Columbia Gorge News was unable to verify whether the incidents in Bingen and Cascade Locks were related as of press deadline on Monday. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
