Charges — Jan. 12-25, Bingen-White Salmon police charged people with domestic assault (1), driving suspended (2), DUII (1). Jan. 18-24, Hood River police charged people with driving suspended (1), DUII (2), false info (1), firearms (1), resist arrest (1), trespass (1), warrant (2). And Jan. 23-27, Oregon State police: DUII (2), fail to report as sex offender (2), driving suspended (3), fail to carry license (1), resist arrest (1), warrant (3). Other agencies don’t reveal arrests.
Sex offenses — State troopers tried to contact five people with out-of-compliance sex offender registration records. Two were cited; two could not be found, and charges were sent to the District Attorney for consideration; one was said to be deceased. Meanwhile, The Dalles got six domestic violence calls.
Home assault — Jan. 24, it was reported a male person was refusing to leave a female person’s home in Hood River; further, that he was intoxicated and attempting to lay hands on the person. Officers responded and arrested the aggressor on charges of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree trespass, harassment, and two counts assaulting a police officer.
Elk issues — Jan. 25, troopers got info that an out-of-state pickup eastbound on I-84 had elk feet hanging out of it. Troopers stopped the truck near milepost 91, and warned the driver for not putting his tag on the carcasses and also potentially giving Cervid Wasting Disease a free ride across state lines.
Non-injury crash reports — A lone Toyota Tacoma, eastbound on I-84, hit black ice near milepost 71 and lost control, striking a barrier. Cited for going too fast for conditions, and fail to drive within lane. Jan. 27, driver had a medical emergency on I-84 and crashed near milepost 92 eastbound; their Ford stopped about 100 yards off the road; they refused medical treatment and got a citation for driving suspended. The Dalles got three crash calls, degree of injury not noted.
Mental health — Wasco County got a mental health call and a suicide call; The Dalles recorded a mental health call, and two suicide calls.
Deaths — Wasco Sheriff responded to a death at Wildcat Crossing Jan. 24.
Also Jan. 24, unattended death at an assisted living facility in Hood River; Fire and EMS also responded.
Adult person dead in White Salmon Jan. 13.
Injury crash — an. 19, person was struck by a vehicle in Hood River and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
In White Salmon, Bingen — Five non-injury crash reports, two complaints of threatening, and information documented regarding a damaged rose bush.
Thefts — Wasco County reported three, The Dalles two thefts and a burglary Jan. 27 on (guess where!) W. Sixth, five fraud calls and ID theft. In Hood River, a bike and a check. In Bingen-White Salmon, two alleged thefts: in one, officer “located missing laundry.”
Firearm — Jan. 23, a The Dalles resident was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm near I-84 Exit 62 eastbound, Hood River.
Illegal use of vehicle — Jan. 27, Kingsley Street, The Dalles.
