Charges — Last week, Oregon State Police charged people with driving suspended (two), false information (one), order violation (one), warrant (one). June 29 to July 5, Hood River police charged people with mischief (one), disorderly conduct (one), DUII (one), theft (one), trespass (one), warrant (one). Other agencies don’t log arrests.
Fishing — A trooper contacted an angler at a small Cascade Locks pond. They had no angling license and also two felony warrants from New Mexico, for which they were arrested.
Crashes — Two non-injury crashes were logged by OSP last week: A Prinveille resident hit a cow in Wheeler County. A driver left the road and rolled on I-84 near milepost 70 eastbound, due to medical issues. Meanwhile, four people crashed in Wasco and nine more in The Dalles, along with eight hit and runs.
Dead elk — An elk calf stumbled over the highway, fell into a ditch near Rowena and died without obvious physical trauma. ODFW went to investigate cause of death.
Order violation — A driver was stopped on US 197 for traffic violations and the passenger charged with violation of a restraining order protecting the driver, and false information.
Bicycle crash — A crash with injuries. Officers responded to a vehicle versus bicycle crash at Sixth and State streets. Hood River fire responded and the victim was cleared with minor injuries.
Warrant issued — Hood River officers responded to the boat launch regarding a juvenile being harassed by an adult male; the suspect was identified and a warrant issued for their arrest.
Thefts — The Dalles logged 19 thefts last week: Fraud (seven), other, stolen vehicle from Jefferson Street reported July 10. Locations were Liberty, W. Sixth (two), E. Second streets; Pleasant Court, E. 14th (two), E. 13th, W. Ninth (two), E. Seventh streets.
Seven thefts were reported in Wasco County, including two frauds and two ID thefts; and a stolen vehicle at Clear Lake Campground July 3 near the Wamic Boat Ramp.
Camp trailer gone — Three theft reports taken in Hood River June 29-July 3: Shoplifting at Walmart, camp trailer stolen from Les Schwab, and dog believed stolen from the waterfront.
Statistics — Two sex crimes logs, two suicide logs, four assault logs, one of domestic violence from The Dalles last week. Wasco County made one sex crimes log.
Creatures — The Dalles made 16 animal calls last week, 14 about dogs. Wasco County called in eight dogs and three other animals.
Four — mental health calls in The Dalles last week.
Death — A person died on Clark Street, The Dalles.
Prowling — A prowler reported on Dry Hollow July 6. Eight other prowler incidents were logged on G street, Jefferson Street, and Oregon Avenue the night of July 9. Another on Myrtle Street July 10.
DUII — The Dalles logged two DUIIs on July 3 and 7; county deputies got one.
Burglary — The county logged a burglary from Washington Street on July 7; another burglary on NE Third Street July 8.
