Raices Cooperative Farm, a program of The Next Door, will hold its annual plant sale Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of The Next Door office at 965 Tucker Road. All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Raices program.
Raices Cooperative Farm is an educational program that teaches community members organic farming techniques, farm business classes, and gives gardening access to people who do not have land, but wish to grow their own food. Raices works in partnership with Master Gardeners from Oregon State University.
The sale will have many varieties of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant as well as basil, dill, herbs, celery, sunflowers and marigolds. Most of the starts are $3, with a few special varieties selling for $4 and $5.
Also on May 7, the OSU Central Gorge Master Gardeners will hold their annual spring plant sale in the Learning Garden at the OSU Extension grounds, 2990 Experiment Station Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Find over 3,000 veggie starts, flowering perennials, native trees and shrubs, ground covers, herbs and ornamental grasses. Master Gardeners will also be on site to answer any questions. The event will be held rain or shine.
Hood River Valley High School FFA will hold its annual plant sale May 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school’s greenhouse. Find hanging baskets, bedding plants, and lots of vegetable starts. Club members will also have garden markers for sale — some made by students — as well as hypertufa pots and more. Credit cards are accepted.
