Robert “Bob” Estel Henderson was born on April 11, 1949, in White Salmon, Washington, to William Kenneth Henderson and Bonnie Rose (Carter) Henderson. He passed away on April 5, 2026, at his home in Glenwood, Washington.
He graduated from Columbia High School in 1967, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was aboard a Navy helicopter during the splash down and recovery of the Apollo 13 capsule.
After his service, he began a lifelong work in the logging industry. He was a skidder operator for several companies including Murray Logging, Hansen and Spies Logging, and his father’s Elkhorn Logging, before retiring in 2014.
On July 31, 1976, he married Darla Jo Mann in Glenwood, where they remained until their passing. Together they shared three children: Amanda Rose, William Jacob, and Joshua Robert Henderson.
Bob enjoyed camping, hunting for morel mushrooms and being with family.
He is survived by his children, Amanda, Jacob, and Josh; grandchildren Kyler and Paityn Henderson; twin brother Blake Henderson; sisters Susan Montgomery and Sherry Henderson; sister-in-law Debbie Sexton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darla Jo, and parents William and Bonnie Henderson.
A celebration of life will be held at Glenwood School on April 25 at 1 p.m., with a potluck and fellowship to follow. Gardner Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Visit www.GardnerFH.com to share a story or leave a note for the family.
