PARKDALE — The Hutson Museum won a grant for $4,631 from the Oregon Heritage, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to build an exhibit about the history of logging and the timber industry in the upper Hood River Valley.

The exhibit will be an addition to the extensive Indigenous tool, rock, and mineral collection in the museum. It will tell the story of working in the woods in the upper valley and how the timber industry shaped early Parkdale and will include photos of early logging in the area, tools of the trade, and oral histories. A timeline will show how logging technology evolved. Construction of the exhibit will begin in late 2025 and will be open to the public in summer 2026.
