WHITE SALMON — The four members of TOPS WA 0001 White Salmon are marking 65 years together as a weight loss support chapter.
This chapter was the first in the state of Washington.
Weekly meetings are a key component of TOPS support, and visitors to a chapter are welcome to attend their first meeting free of charge.
Meetings are held at Columbia Bank, 390 N.E. Tohomish St., White Salmon, on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. Attendees should use the front entrance to the bank, and then go upstairs.
“Our chapter is thrilled to celebrate this milestone and we look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries to come,” said Brenda, chapter Leader. “We’re going to continue committing ourselves to losing weight — together. Anyone who is looking for weight loss support is welcome as a TOPS member.”
Founded more than 70 years ago, TOPS Clubs Inc. is the only nonprofit, noncommercial weight loss organization of its kind, said a press release. TOPS offers an individualized approach to weight loss and overall wellness, with thousands of chapters in the United States and Canada. Members learn about nutrition, portion control, meal planning, exercise and more.
Chapters may charge nominal fees to cover operating costs — usually $5 a month.
