Anna Vivian Bolton, 101, formerly of Dufur, Oregon, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1924, in Dufur, to William and Jessie Steuber. She was the youngest of four children, with an older sister and two brothers. Anna was born in the family home on the Steuber ranch, where she was also raised. She rode horseback to the Boyd School through fourth grade before attending school in Dufur. She graduated as valedictorian of the Dufur High School Class of 1942. During high school, she played the French horn, sang in the Glee club, and served as editor of the school yearbook.
After graduation, Anna attended business school in Portland and began a career with a fur coat distributor, where she worked for 10 years. During that time, she traveled frequently to New York City on buying trips, enjoying Broadway musicals and the excitement of city life.
Although Anna and Hollis Bolton had attended school together, they did not begin dating until they reunited at their 10-year class reunion in 1952. They married in 1954 and built a life together, raising their two children, Bob and Nancy. Anna and Hollis shared nearly 65 years of marriage until Hollis’s passing in 2018.
Anna was a devoted member of her church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, participated in the choir, and sang during church services. She was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years.
A gifted homemaker, Anna loved sewing, gardening, and preserving food for her family through canning. On the family wheat farm, she was always willing to lend a hand, especially driving wheat trucks during harvest season. In retirement, Anna and Hollis traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Baja, California, in their motorhome. For more than 20 years, they spent winters in Peoria, Arizona, where they formed many cherished lifelong friendships.
Sports, especially baseball, were another of Anna’s great passions. She was a devoted Oregon State Beavers fan and rarely missed listening to a game, even into this past May. Together, she and Hollis visited numerous Major League Baseball stadiums during their travels, creating many treasured memories.
After Hollis’s passing, Anna moved to Corvallis to live with her daughter, Nancy, before later making her home at Bonaventure Senior Living in Albany.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hollis, in 2018, and her son-in-law, Matt, in 2009.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy; her son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Julie; her grandchildren, Nina, Michael and his wife, Emily, and Kyle and his partner, Mychal; and one very special great-granddaughter, Paige. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her resilient spirit, unwavering faith, and kind heart.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Bonaventure Senior Living and to the hospice team for their compassionate and loving care during Anna’s final days.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Dufur Christian Church, 3115 Harrison St., Dufur. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dufur Christian Church.
