HOOD RIVER — City council unanimously approved a 10-minute parking spot at Third and Cascade, “effective at all hours and on all days,” following a presentation by Bradford Perron, owner of the Heilbronner Building, at the July 27 meeting.
This has been an ongoing theme during public comment for the last several meetings, with those with businesses in the Heilbronner Building frequently appearing before council to express favor.
“Short-term [parking] helps locals,” Perron said. “I think it’s really important that we offer that to our tenants in the building.”
The city is currently planning a parking study update, though the results won’t be immediately available. City Administrator Abigail Elder said the study will look at limited-duration spots as well as help establish criteria for future parking decisions.
As such, council voted to approve the special request immediately as a pilot program, with changes possible once the parking update is completed.
