THE DALLES — The Mid-Columbia Houseless Collaborative (MCHC)will host a free community screening of “No Place to Grow Old,” a documentary that captures a growing crisis unfolding across America: Older adults aging into houselessness.
The event will take place on Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at The Granada Theatre, 221 E. Second St., The Dalles.
The Humans for Housing documentary sheds light on an often-overlooked aspect of the housing crisis, examining the challenges faced by senior citizens who find themselves without stable housing in their later years.
“Houselessness affects people of all ages, but older adults face unique vulnerabilities and barriers,” said Kai Burgess Nichols, member of MCHC and Older Adult Behavioral Health Coordinator at Greater Oregon Behavioral Health Inc. (GOBHI). “This screening provides an opportunity for our community to better understand this crisis and come together to explore solutions that support our most vulnerable neighbors.”
The evening will include a free dinner for the first 150 attendees, a moderated discussion with members of the Houseless Collaborative, and the film screening.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations of shelf-stable food items for MCCAC’s The Annex will be accepted at the door.
