Injury crash — A jeep on Highway 30 turned in front of a Subaru and they collided. Fire and EMS responded to extract the jeep’s driver (who got three citations) from the vehicle, and all occupants of both vehicles were transported to a local hospital.
Warrant arrests — In one of their two arrant arrests, Oregon State Troopers stopped a pickup on I-84 for not having required lights and arrested the passenger on a felony warrant out of Jefferson County. Wasco County reported three warrant incidents and The Dalles logged four, one initially logged as a pursuit on I Street Oct. 21
Hit-and-run — A vehicle apparently hit a sign and a barbed-wire fence on Highway 26 at Watermelon Road. ODOT retrieved a license plate from the crash location. Wasco County reported a hit-and-run. Oct. 12-18, Hood River police reported two hit-and-runs.
Six non-injury crashes — Oct. 17, a car and a semi on I-84 tried to pass at the same time in the same place and banged together. Also Oct. 17, A Toyota hit a deer on I-84 in Sherman County, which the driver salvaged. Oct. 20, a pickup hit a Wasco County Public Works grader on Threemile. On Oct. 21, a Chevy tried to illegally pass a jeep in a special left-run lane and got smashed by a commercial truck and trailer. On Oct. 23, a Ford landed in the ditch near Highline Drive and Eastside Road; the driver was charged with DUII - alcohol and then hospitalized for a medical emergency. On Oct. 24, a Tesla left its lane on US-197 for unknown reasons and hit the guardrail.
Wasco County logged eight vehicle crashes, and The Dalles one.
Huntin’ and fishin’ — On Oct. 17, two anglers using illegal gear at the mouth of Eagle Creek got citations and four snagged Coho were seized for the Salvation Army. On Oct. 18, a hunter accidentally shot a buck deer instead of a doe and reported it. He got a citation and the buck confiscated for charity.
Charges — On Oct. 17-24, OSP charged people with driving suspended (one), DUII (one), fail to report (one), warrant (two). Oct. 12-18, Hood River police charged people with DUII (two), trespassing (one).
Mental health — Wasco County logged two mental health calls. The Dalles logged four mental health calls and two suicide incidents.
Stats — Wasco County logged two incidents of domestic violence; The Dalles logged three incidents of domestic violence and one of assault. There were also four drug incidents in Wasco and The Dalles.
Theft and fraud — Wasco County added a fraud and a theft log. The Dalles added 22 theft logs, including two stolen vehicles, ID theft, four fraud logs, two thefts on Mt. Hood Street and five on W. Sixth. Hood River Police reported a $100 bill used at Walmart and a fraud or forgery report taken at Providence Hood River.
Burglary — The Dalles made two burglary logs on W. Ninth Oct. 19 and Oct. 22 on Liberty Street.
Oops — Hood River Police cited a juvenile for operating an e-bike.
LifeFlight — Hood River officers helped Fire and EMS with a medical emergency, when a person was transported via LifeFlight to Portland. Another family was found to take care of the child present.
DUIIs — On Oct. 12-18, Hood River officers made two DUII arrest. In one, they stopped a vehicle and arrested the driver on DUII - controlled substance charges and citations for no driver’s license, driving uninsured, failure to renew registration and open container.
