Dark Skies Gorge gets new leader

THE GORGE — Mark Zanmiller, Hood River, has accepted a co-chair position with Dark Skies Gorge (DSG), a local advocacy group fighting against nighttime light pollution.

“Mark has been a strong supporter of dark skies for the past many months and having him step into a co-chair role is very exciting,” said current co-chairs Mike Hendricks, Hood River, and Mike McKeag, Mosier, in a joint press release.

Zanmiller has lived in Hood River since 1991. Trained as an electrical engineer, he spent almost 30 years working for various companies in the local high-tech industry and was named Tech Leader of the Year in 2020. He served 12 years on Hood River City Council, six as chair.
