The iconic voice behind the Home Depot commercials is stepping in front of the camera for the first time in 13 years for a new promotional campaign for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
As reported by People,Yellowstone star Josh Lucas is the man behind the company’s “how doers get more done” catchphrase, though he’s never appeared on screen in a Home Depot ad. That’s changed in the latest commercial, which sees the Palm Royale actor working on a World Cup viewing area for his backyard with David Beckham.
“When the company came to me with the idea, at the time they called it “Revealing the Voice”… I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? It’s something I would be so totally honored to do,'” Lucas told the outlet.
Lucas, who has voiced Home Depot commercials since 2013, revealed that people often recognize his voice before they recognize his face, despite having starred in countless films and TV shows, such as Sweet Home Alabama, Hulk, The Lincoln Lawyer, Ford v Ferrari, and many more.
“I’ll walk into a Home Depot, and people are like, ‘Oh my god,’” he revealed. “Oftentimes, they say to me, ‘Oh, I recognized your voice before I actually put it together that it was you.'”
Lucas and Home Depot are a perfect match, as the actor said he’s a keen builder who visits the store multiple times a week. “My grandfather was a builder. My brother is a builder. I’m a great DIY builder,” he shared. “I can hack anything, so I definitely feel like I am lucky that I get to be part of a company that I, frankly, would use whether I was involved with or not.”
Despite being a skilled builder in real life, the new commercial portrays Lucas as a lazy guy who sips drinks while Beckham does all the manual labor. Lucas said getting to work with the soccer star was a dream come true.
“I played soccer growing up. I’m a huge FIFA World Cup fan. And I’m a massive David Beckham fan, I have to say. I can’t even like overstate it, frankly,” he stated. “I’ve been joking with my wife ever since, that I have the worst man crush ever now on David Beckham.”
