HOOD RIVER - Three losses to end the regular season kept the Hood River Valley High School boys on the outside looking in at the 2026 OSAA state volleyball playoffs.
Coach Brian Petros’ Eagles were vying for the fourth and final qualifying berth into the Class 6A/5A state playoffs heading into the final two weeks of the regular season – the inaugural season of boys volleyball under the guise of the OSAA. But losses to Reynolds (May 12) and La Salle (May 14) dropped HRV into fifth place in the Special District 1 standings. Hood River also lost a match on May 7 at David Douglas and finished 6-9 overall, 5-9 in district.
David Douglas earned the district’s No. 4 berth into the state playoffs behind champion Central Catholic, No. 2 Reynolds and No. 3 La Salle Prep.
HRV’s Gus Reed, Eli Kellert, Sebastian Clarkson and Teaghan Oaks made up the senior class of HRV’s first OSAA volleyball team.
