Hood River’s second annual soap box derby is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, and those still wishing to register for the event must do so by June 1. The soap box derby, which will again be held on Indian Creek Road hill just south of the Valley Christian Church, is open to all boys and girls ages 7-15. The kids will race their handmade cars for the chance to win trophies in various divisions.

Community education Director Mike Schend said there were 14 entires last year and this year is hoping to have about 20 cars on the course. The event is co-sponsored by the Community Education Department and the Hood River Kiwanis Club.
