This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Scout as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe him as follows:
“Scout is about 2 years old, maybe 70 pounds, and is a beautiful German Shepherd, who happens to be very camera shy, but nothing shy about him when he meets people! He loves people of all shapes and sizes! He’s playful and sweet and gets along with other dogs and kids, and has lived with cats just fine.
“But his family is not able to provide him with regular exercise, and so when he’s left outside and alone for long periods of time, Scout will jump his 4-foot fence to go investigate the goings-on of the neighborhood. He doesn’t get into any trouble, but it’s not safe; and so because of this, his family has made the difficult decision to have us find him a family and new home where he can get his needs met.
“Scout usually greets everyone with a lovely roll onto his back to accept a belly rub. And boy, does he love the belly rubs! He has a cute little grin on his face as he drifts off to La-La Land! He is very intelligent and is eager to please. He knows several basic commands and is fantastic on leashed walks.”
Scout is house-trained, neutered, current on shots and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $185; cash or check only, please. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses.
Since many of the program’s dogs are in foster, please call ahead to meet Scout at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, Odell; 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-11 a.m.
