North Wasco School Board, Sept. 25 — The board approved a new cell phone policy, with detention after three violations of the ban on phones in school. The ban seems to be working. Parents raised concerns about a special education program, and the district is looking for money for an elevator fix before winter — the alternative for a student who needs it is an outside route to class. North Bonneville City Council, Sept. 23 — During this meeting, the audio system kept malfunctioning and several key people who attended online couldn't hear anything. Council delayed a vote on the mayor's compensation until a later meeting — which Uplift Local learned about at this meeting and wrote about here. The Skamania Count Sheriff says she will be looking for volunteers — trying to follow the Klickitat County model — and a farm stand is coming to town. From Documenter Lynda Ontiveros.
The Dalles City Council, Sept. 22 — City council unanimously approved new rules for mobile food vendors, which is expected to force Bread and Blessings, which feeds unhoused people, to move. HoodRiver-White Salmon Bridge Authority, Sept. 22 — A bridge delegation lobbying for funding in DC says the got positive responses. Funding is not yet secured. Locally, cameras are going up to capture data on how much the bridge moves every day. And a chance to comment on environmental impacts is coming up. From Documenter Kathy Omer.
