THE DALLES — Continuing a tradition of a Christmas play to kick-off the holiday season, Serious Theater is presenting a readers theater production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Directed by Sue Matney, there is a lively cast of characters, complete with the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge. It is sure to bring the story of A Christmas Carol to life as the audience travels through Ebenezer's life with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Ebenezer finally comes to realize there is more to life than work and money, when he crosses paths with Tiny Tim. The cast is completed with many other characters — most of the actors have several parts — including Mr. and Mrs. Cratchit, Fezziwig, Ebenezer's sister Fan, and narrated by the story teller.
Adding to the success of the production are behind the scenes people, running sound and lights and performing live sound effects. The show is complete with music, with Barbara Haren on the piano. You won't want to miss this production!
The production is being held at the Sawyer Hall Theater, located at Zion Lutheran Church ELCA, 10th and Union streets in The Dalles on Friday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. Admission, as always, is free and donations are welcome.
