HOOD RIVER — Join Columbia Gorge Master Gardener Association (CGMGA) for a night out at the movies. OSU Hood River Extension Central Gorge Master Gardeners are excited to present Growing Cities, a feature documentary that examines urban farming in America. This 92-minute film will be offered free of charge for one show only at the Hood River Library, 502 State St. on Tuesday, July 14 from 6-8 p.m.
Following the film, there will be a brief discussion about food security in the Gorge with Lauren Kraemer- OSU Extension Family and Community Health.
From rooftop farmers to backyard beekeepers, Americans are growing food like never before. GROWING CITIES tells the inspiring stories of these intrepid urban farmers, innovators, and everyday city-dwellers who are challenging the way this country grows and distributes its food. From those growing food in backyards to make ends meet to educators teaching kids to eat healthier, urban farmers are harvesting a whole lot more than simply good food.
