HOOD RIVER — The Hood River County Library Foundation’s annual Feast of Words Gala and Fundraiser will take place at the Hood River Library on Saturday, May 4 from 5:30-8 p.m.
“The Library Foundation is delighted to host our 11th Feast of Words to raise funds to support library services throughout our county,” Library Foundation President Jen Bayer said. “We are very grateful to the local businesses and individuals who sponsor or donate goods and services to make this event a success.”
According to press release, each year, the Library Foundation designates the proceeds of the annual gala to a specific project requested by the Library District. This year, the foundation will be designating the funds towards the District’s Strategic Priority of making library services accessible to all.
“The fundraising goal is set at $35,000, with $25,000 allocated to enhancing infrastructure and reducing barriers by replacing the library’s main front circulation desk, creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for all patrons. An additional $10,000 will be directed towards supporting the Bookmobile, ensuring its continued success in expanding access to library services,” the press release said.
The event will include appetizers, desserts, beer and wine from local establishments. There will be live music from band Pavement Ends.
A live auction will be hosted by auctioneer Archer Mayo. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a golden ticket for the opportunity to have first pick of the auction items, as well as raffle tickets to be in the running to win various “goodie baskets.”
Entry tickets are $30, with raffle and golden tickets available for purchase online. Live auction items can be viewed in advance at www.hoodriverlibrary.org. Children under 17 accompanied by their parents will receive complimentary admission. Activities and games will be available in the children’s library.
