HOOD RIVER — On Sept. 16, the Port of Hood River Commission approved several grant contracts, discussed a land problem with the new bridge and heard a presentation on the current one’s sufficiency.

THE GORGE — Bids will be opened next month for a project to close one of the last remaining gaps along the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail, while construction on a second gap is anticipated to start late in 2026.

PJ’s Hometown Café, located on the corner of Belmont and 13th, currently opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. on Sundays. They’re closing times are posted online and may still vary by the week.

THE GORGE — The Next Door Inc. (TNDI) is running a gift matching campaign through the end of June up to $22,500. One of the TNDI programs is the Columbia Gorge Youth Connection program that helps “students in local Gorge schools receive the mentorship and encouragement needed to succeed.”
HOOD RIVER — “I’ve always loved soup,” said Cauldron Cafe owner and operator, Kimberly Gibson, “ever since I was a little kid. And as I got older, I realized I could make my own and it’s better than the stuff in the can!”
PARKDALE — Parkdale is known as a tightknit community proud of their local stores, brews, and views. The Four One is no exception as an art-centric shop peddling locally-made goods like keepsakes, ceramics, attire, and more. Gorge residents and tourists alike enjoy browsing for the right piece.

In 2023, Historic Waucoma LLC purchased the historic Waucoma Hotel building that was previously home to the Naked Winery (relocated in 2020) and the River City Saloon (temporarily closed in 2023).
