Three retire from school

The old saying goes "If walls could talk." Well, I bet the walls would have nothing on the stories that Bun and Anita Wellenbrock and Eileen Brashers could recount after their combined 81 years of service for the Glenwood School District. Anita worked for the district 37 years, Eileen 25 years, and Bun 19 years. Plan to attend a retirement reception honoring Anita, Bun and Eileen at the school on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring memories of your own to share, and be prepared to hear some great stories! Food and beverages will be provided. The retirees have asked that guests do not bring gifts. Best wishes to the Wellenbrocks and Eileen for a happy and healthy retirement!

Condolences are extended to Lonnie Dean and her family for the recent loss of her brother, Chuck Morgan.

Also, we were sorry to hear that Bill Henderson passed away. Our thoughts are with Mr. Henderson's family in their loss as well.

The Glenwood Homemakers announced it is offering a $300 Continuing Education Scholarship this year. The scholarship is open to anyone who has been a Glenwood resident for at least two years (or whose primary residence is Glenwood), has at least 12 post-secondary credit hours and will be attending an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university or trade school at least half time this fall.
