A big thank you to Sprint! The Trout Lake Booster Club received a grant for five brand new computers hooked up to DSL. Cheri Van Laar, Diane Schmid, Joanne Poland, and Karen Smith helped facilitate this computer gift. These computers are in the Community Learning Center and available for the community to use. Come to the office and fill out a simple form. For a very small fee these computers are available to use.
"To the Trout Lake Community -- I would like to take this opportunity to make a public apology. Last July I did some things that I am not proud of. I betrayed the trust of my family, friends and neighbors. Since then I have been serving the time for my crime and I am not even done paying for what I did. I have thought through my actions, and I am truly sorry for hurting you. I have come to appreciate Trout Lake and I thank you and my family for taking me in and helping me ten years ago. I truly regret having done something that hurts you and will probably leave a bad taste in your mouths for some time. I would like to ask for you as a community, to forgive me. Please don't write me off as a bad guy, rather , graciously give me a chance to redeem myself and prove that I can and will be an upstanding citizen." Thank you, Jerry Duke.
Spring begins just a month away, March 20, according to my calendar. Do you feel a little spring in your step when you go out jogging or walking? Or playing in the snow? Soon the seed catalogs will be out and we will be planning our gardening.
The "Pennies for Scholars" penny jars are now in place in the community and Trout Lake School. 100 percent of your donation goes into the fund for the Trout Lake Community Foundation scholarships for local students pursuing post-secondary education opportunities. Watch for the new larger than life wooden thermostat to be put in place at the Trout Lake School. See your donations grow as we update this thermostat and the thermostat posters around town. Pennies do add up! With your support we can make the 2004 goal! Private donations for this event can be made to the Trout Lake Community Foundation, PO Box 322, Trout Lake, Wash. 98650. We are very pleased to present this important fundraising event. Contact Sharon Lee at 395-9311 for more information.
